What Is Galvanized Angle Iron Tower?

Angle iron tower is a self-standing tall frame. We use angle steel as main material, connect all parts with bolts or welding.

It works differently from monopole tower and steel pipe tower. Its design is simple, and production technology is mature.

The whole tower frame is built with many angle steel pieces. Bolts link every component to form triangle or square space truss structure.

This special structure brings strong anti-bending and anti-twist performance. It holds strong wind pressure and cable pulling force well. Besides, we can make all parts in factory in standard sizes, and assemble them fast on construction sites.

Installation of Galvanized Angle Iron Towers

Main Structure Components

We design each galvanized angle iron tower to bear load evenly with simple construction. The full set includes tower body, cross arms, diagonal bracings, base and matched accessories.

Cross Arms and Attachments

Cross arms sit on upper or middle tower sections. For power towers, they hold power wires and ground wires. For communication towers, they fix signal antennas.

Cross arms are made of angle steel or steel pipes based on load needs. Workers connect cross arms to main tower frames via joint plates.

Foundation

Foot plates connect tower bottom and concrete foundation. Main tower steel pieces lock on foot plates with bolts. Foot plates are fixed to foundation rings through anchor bolts.

We offer multiple foundation types: independent foundation, strip foundation and pile cap foundation. All foundations carry full weight of the tower.

Auxiliary Facilities

Working platform: For equipment installation and regular tower inspection

Climbing ladder: Runs from tower bottom to top for maintenance staff

Lightning rod: Mounted on galvanized angle iron tower top to protect tower and inner devices from lightning damage

Complete Production Process

Step 1: Marking & Cutting

Workers mark exact sizes and angles following construction drawings first. Then we cut raw angle steel with CNC flame cutters or plasma cutters. All cutting sizes meet international industry standards.

Step 2: Drilling & Bending

We drill holes on angle steel for bolt assembly. Some diagonal parts need shape adjustment. We use cold bending or hot bending to match connection angles.

Step 3: Welding

We weld parts that cannot be linked by bolts, such as cross partition frames and cross arm joints. Our workers strictly control welding quality. All welds are full and crack-free to guarantee overall tower strength.

Anti-Corrosion Treatment

All towers stay outdoors all year round. Rain, sunlight and salt fog cause heavy corrosion, so anti-rust treatment is vital.

Pre-treatment Before Galvanizing

We wash all steel pieces with acid and clean water. This step removes oil, rust and oxide layers on steel surface. Clean surface ensures zinc layer sticks tightly to steel.

Hot Dip Galvanizing

We put finished steel parts into melted zinc liquid. A combined zinc-iron alloy layer plus pure zinc layer forms on steel surface.

The zinc coating sticks firmly and spreads evenly. It blocks air and water from touching steel. Normally, this layer protects towers for over 30 years under regular outdoor conditions.

Wide Application Scenarios

Our galvanized angle iron tower owns stable structure, great adaptability and cost-effective price. It serves many industries.

Power Industry

It is the main support frame for high-voltage power lines. Widely used on 110kV power grids up to 1000kV UHV AC & DC power projects. It fits mountainous and complex land with poor ground conditions for its strong load capacity.

Communication Industry

With full 4G and 5G coverage, a large number of our towers are built for macro and micro base stations. They carry multiple antennas and signal cables. Very common in rural areas and open mountain lands.

Radio & TV Industry

Support broadcasting antennas to send signals over long distances for wide coverage.

Other Industries

Petrochemical: Support tall reaction towers and pipeline frames.

Environmental Protection: Support aeration towers and chimney frames at sewage plants.

Municipal Construction: Support street light poles and traffic signal poles.

FAQ

Q1: What anti-corrosion process do you use on angle iron towers?

A: We mainly apply hot dip galvanizing. We also do acid washing and surface cleaning before galvanizing for better coating adhesion.

Q2: How long can hot dip galvanized towers resist rust outdoors?

A: Under normal outdoor environment, the zinc layer offers more than 30 years anti-corrosion lifespan.

Q3: What structure forms does this angle steel tower have?

A: It is self-standing space truss frame, mainly square or triangle frame connected by bolts, with strong wind resistance.

Q4: How often do we need to check and maintain the galvanized angle iron tower?

A: We suggest a full comprehensive inspection at least once per year. Local harsh weather areas can increase inspection frequency.

Q5: Can galvanized angle steel tower bear heavy wind and cable pulling force?

A: Yes. The truss angle steel structure has great anti-bending and anti-twist stiffness, which holds large horizontal wind load and wire tension well.

Q6: Does Maotong accept customized angle iron towers?

A: Yes. We adjust tower height, load capacity, material grade and structure design to match customers’ power or communication project demands.
