In the day of Little New Year, a traditional Chinese festival marking the prelude to the Spring Festival, Maotong held a warm and joyful team activity where all employees gathered to make and enjoy dumplings together, inheriting traditional customs and enhancing team cohesion.
Little New Year, also known as the Kitchen God Festival, is a unique traditional festival in China with slight differences in celebration dates and customs between Northern and Southern China. Specifically, Northern China celebrates it on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month, while Southern China observes it on the 24th day of the same lunar month. As a company rooted in Shandong Province, which belongs to Northern China, Maotong follows the Northern Chinese tradition and celebrates Little New Year on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month.
Eating dumplings is a time-honored and essential custom for Northern Chinese Little New Year. Dumplings, called "jiaozi" in Chinese, are not only a delicious delicacy but also carry profound cultural meanings. Their shape resembles ancient Chinese ingots, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity, while the act of gathering to make and eat dumplings embodies the desire for family reunion and conveys sincere wishes for a happy and smooth new year.
During the activity, the staff of Maotong rolled up their sleeves and participated actively. Some skillfully rolled dumpling skins, some carefully filled them with rich stuffings, and others helped cook the dumplings. Laughter and cheerful conversations filled the air, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere like a big family. Everyone enjoyed the process of making dumplings by themselves, experiencing the fun of traditional customs and feeling the warmth of the Maotong family.
